Buffy Sainte Marie is an international Rockstar whose life is an example of resilient creative expression. When she began to use her global stardom as a platform to speak for human rights and the American Indian Movement the Johnson administration had her records pulled from radio play. The Nixon Administration followed suit. Despite that Buffy kept making music, painting and teaching. She is an artist of undeniable passion, talent, advocacy, activism, celebration, experimentation and diverse methodologies. She demonstrates how to bear trauma, sing justice and live with faith in freedom. Her pedagogical practices and understanding of child development are rooted in a trust of Creation and a knowledge of belonging to it. Buffy brings to light what it means to grow in human relationship to all beings maintaining that we learn through play and connection.
